When portrait photographer Philippe Halsman finished a formal shoot he would ask his subjects to jump for him before he concluded his day’s work.  Halsman believed that in jumping, people dropped the masks that we wear every day to hide our true inner selves.  He compiled his work in the (now out of print) book, Philippe Halsman’s Jump Book.  Below are some images from that book. 


Halsman captured a side of his subjects that people had never seen (seriously, look at that picture of Richard Nixon!).  Your goal is to capture a magical side of your community that has also remained hidden... until now.
